The last time I did a Font Hill Park Maternity session was about 3 years ago and I have NO IDEA why I haven’t been back in all this time. I absolutely *love* *it* there and I pray there are many more Font Hill Park maternity sessions in my future (please, God).
When I’m consulting with a new client, we work together to figure out the best location for their session. I ask what they envision for the background of the photos (country, urban, trees, water, farm, tall grasses, etc.) and, if there’s not a clear vision, I often refer them to my past work to help them see what we could accomplish together. Usually people choose my main staples of the Shrine of St Anthony (requires advanced permission and a free will donation to the church in return for the use of the grounds), Woodlawn Manor, or the Howard County Conservancy (absolutely beautiful and LOTS of variety). But occasionally they’ll suggest a location that has special meaning to them and is outside of where I normally shoot and I LOVE when that happens. While I am always up for shooting at my staple locations (I know the light and the best hidden gem spots) I also adore new spots that test my creativity and allow me to get out of my comfort zone.
While this Font Hill Park maternity session wasn’t a brand new spot to me, it definitely has been some time and I was able to flex my creative muscle anyway, putting to work all the new and improved photography skills I’ve gained over the past 3+ years.
Stephanie and Matt were amazing to work with. Not only did Stephanie reach out waaaay at the beginning of her pregnancy (thank you, Stephanie, you can’t know how much I prefer a well-thought-out inquiry) and book a Belly to Baby session, she and Matt were absolutely adorable together and I screamed (externally as well as internally) throughout the whole session as I saw the shots we were getting on the back of my camera.
I am so pleased with this gallery and I am beyond excited about meeting their baby girl when she arrives in the next couple of months 💕
