Get ready for a pink poofy dress. I was excited about Maria’s senior session from the very beginning….even though I tried to turn it down (yes, yes I did – can you imagine if my busy calendar prevented me from meeting this amazing young woman and her precious momma??)!! Arhy, Maria’s mom, started her inquiry beautifully, with words of praise that any photographer would be powerless to refer out:
“My daughter graduates high school this year, and in this now COVID world it has been a difficult two years. I’d like to give her a very special experience that she can look back on. I understand your speciality is maternity and newborn portraits; however, your style of photography is exactly what we are looking for. Thanks!”
Well. I initially considered sticking to my guns and telling her that I was too busy with maternity and newborns to book a senior – but I was already hooked from the get-go with Arhy’s inquiry. Then when we had our consult phone call and I actually got to talk to these two human beings and hear how excited they were to get these photos done and how sweet and relatable they were…well, it was no use. I was all in. By the time they told me that a pink poofy dress was involved, I was a puddle at their feet. No way was I giving this one up.
Well, Maria showed up in her pink poofy dress (ok, actually she showed up in a black and red dress that had me lamenting on how NOT cool I was as a high school senior but the pink poofy dress came later and boy was it worth it). With it, she brought an aura of grace and maturity that I *know* I didn’t possess as a senior in high school. She knew exactly the look she was going for – all I had to do was stand back and capture the moment.
Guys. I left this session beaming. I edited beaming. I delivered the gallery more than beaming. It was everything I hoped it would be and, if Arhy’s email is anything to go by, I think they were pleased too:
“Liz!!!! Omgeeeee! The pictures are so beautiful. They’re more than I could have ever hoped for. Thank you so much for everything. You made this experience so awesome for Maria and she hasn’t been able to stop smiling. 😁 We ❤️ You!!”
Sigh. This is my life.
