I love these people. I have photographed this family almost from it’s inception – from Liz and Brandon’s maternity session while pregnant with Renley, to Renley’s newborn photos and her cake smash session, then to welcome their second daughter, Ava, with her newborn photos and now her one year session. Not only do I adore them but I am honored to be trusted so much with their memories. They have come back time and again, they have sent their friends to me, and I feel so fortunate that this is what I get to do with my life. It’s such an honor. And here I am back with their blue eyed baby, Ava, to document her first birthday session.
It’s so wild to meet a baby as a newborn and then see her again one year later. This blue eyed baby was sooo sleepy at her newborn session (though I did get a couple of awake shots) but she was WIDE-AWAKE and adorable at her cake smash. I was completely enamored with her face and her chubs. When those blue eyes were turned toward the light – I mean WOW. Riveted. Captivated. Those are the words that come to mind.
I love having the bed in the studio. It’s such a great place to plop a babe, with it’s slightly boho vibe and the windows letting the light come blazing in. Capturing a blue eyed baby grabbing her toes and flashing a grin at the camera is basically the best way to spend a morning.
But don’t forget the cake smash itself. Every baby approaches the cake a little bit differently. Apprehensive? Still cute. Diving in with a vengeance? Adorable. It’s all a dream, no matter which way it goes and if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times: I LOVE my job ❤️
