I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m not a wedding photographer. Screwing up on a wedding day is a mistake you can’t come back from and I don’t have the nerves to withstand that kind of pressure 😂 (wedding photogs, my hat is off to you…I admire all the beautiful work you create and am happy to leave all of that in your competent hands!!). That’s not to say that I don’t love photographing couples…I actually do!!
There’s something so amazing about being asked to document two people in love. If the pair is comfortable snuggling in and being close and sweet – which is typically the case if they’re paying for a couples’ session – magic happens. I’ve spent a lot of time studying posing: family posing, maternity posing, newborn posing, lifestyle posing, studio posing. But one of the most versatile types of sessions when it comes to posing is a couple’s session. You’d be surprised to know that there are approximately one billion ways to pose a couple in love and they’re ALL adorable and guaranteed to make the woman partner squeal and tear up when she views her gallery for the first time.
On that note, Fatou & Mustapha reached out earlier this fall about doing an anniversary session and I was ALL IN, especially after Fatou told me that one of their outfits would be traditional Gambian wedding attire…YES PLEASE. This couple, you guys, they were *gorgeous*. And *sweet*. And totally great to work with. I loved my time with them and am not shy about admitting that I hope they have babies and bring them to me ASAP 😂
I’m not a wedding photographer but I will photograph a couple in love all day long. Especially when the results look like this 😍
