Is it just me or are we in the DC metro area just the luckiest to have amazing historical landmarks – like the Lincoln Memorial – right in our backyard?? Sometimes I feel like I’m squandering the privilege because I don’t get down there enough but then beautiful happenstance gives me an opportunity.

Rachel’s path to me is my favorite kind – the one that weaves through other’s on a winding road over a year’s time. It started when Danicole, who was graduating with his Masters degree from American University last year, booked me for a session at the U.S. Capitol Building. It was freezing that morning but we made some fun memories.
His friend, Marissa, saw the photos from his session and was also graduating with her Masters. She booked me for her Lincoln Memorial session and thankfully the weather cooperated a bit better that day.
I didn’t know it at the time but Rachel, a friend of Marissa’s (so now we’re three friends deep), saw her photos and, having one more year to go in her Masters program, made plans to get in touch with me for her graduation. When she emailed me in February, I felt so fortunate, knowing the connections that were made to bring these three amazing people to my door.
Rachel and I made plans for a spring session, also at the Lincoln Memorial. That guy Mr. Lincoln just inspires graduates and, I have to say, I’m waiting with bated breath for Rachel’s friends to get in touch next year because this is one string of sessions that needs to be continued 😍
Congratulations, Rachel!
For another cool senior session, this time a high school graduate, check out Olivia’s downtown Annapolis session here.

Your photos are beautiful!! Well done!!! May I ask what time of day you took the photos as the Lincoln Memorial? I am getting ready to graduate and I want to go when the lightning it perfect and there isn’t a ton of people!
Hi Kaitlyn! Congratulations on a job well done! These photos were done at sunrise 🙂 make sure you get a permit and best wishes to you!!
