Another Hawaiian connection graces the blog this week. Danicole is one of those guys who always, and I mean always, has a smile on his face. His cheerful demeanor is so ever-present that when I coached him to do some straight-faced images for his senior pictures, they totally didn’t even look like him – smile-less Danicole is unrecognizable. I’m pretty sure he never meets a stranger – and that is an amazing quality to have. I always wanted to be one of those people who just makes everyone else around them feel good but Danicole actually is one of those people. He is surely going to be missed when he moves back to Hawaii.
But back to the reason behind his photos: in addition to being a really fun, nice human, he is also very driven and dedicated to making the world a better place. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Management at Seattle University (my favorite city in the whole world and my cute husband’s alma mater!), he moved to DC to attend American University for his Masters degree in Public Administration. He has worked really hard and is a proud soon-to-be graduate.
He wanted to document his time in DC before moving back home to Hawaii (sob!) so we met for a sunrise session at the U.S. Capitol. Now, you’d think you were fairly assured of a nice spring morning in late April but, sadly, no. It was in the 30s and this Hawaiian boy was rolling up his shirt sleeves to get the look he wanted (while I shivered uncontrollably in my warm winter coat!). He was a complete trouper and I’m really happy with the images we got. Thank you, Danicole! I really loved your session and I’m already thinking back fondly on it – frigid weather and all 🤣
