Well this one’s a little awkward…today I want to talk to you about giving credit to your photographer. Why is it important to credit your photographer? Well, I’m just going to say it straight out. When you give credit to me on your photo, I potentially gain new clients. Want to see how that works? Follow along:

Your cousin is 6 months pregnant and she sees you posting your images of little newborn Johnny. She falls in love with the idea of getting the same shots of her soon-to-be new baby and she reaches out…

Your neighbor regrets not getting newborn photos of her baby at the height of the pandemic and now little Jasmine’s first birthday is approaching. She saw you post about your little one’s cake smash and she loves the results you got so she reaches out, hoping for the same.

Your co-worker, newly married, just found out she’s expecting a baby. They didn’t plan on starting a family quite so soon but hey, here we are, and she remembers scrolling through your maternity photos while she was planning her wedding all those months ago. Her wedding photographer doesn’t do maternity sessions but your photos were gorgeous so she’s open to meeting a new photographer. Your pictures were exactly what she’d love to see of herself, glowing and expectant.

Three potential new clients and how did they learn about me? From YOU giving credit to your photographer, thank you SO much.

Ok, so how do you do it? It’s not hard and it takes little to no time.

If you post your images on social media, tag me. Tagging gives credit to your photographer.

If you see your image on your photographer’s page or story, share it!! Sharing a post or story gives credit to your photographer.

Print your images!! When your friends come to your house, they’ll see your gorgeous photos on the wall and remark on them. That’s when you say my name and rave about me! Your trust in me plus the gorgeous evidence on the wall gives credit to your photographer.

There’s a couple more things you can do that will help me out greatly and they’re all free. When you see me post on Instagram, like the post. Even better? Comment on it. The best yet?? Save the post. These three things are totally free but work wonders in allowing my content to be seen by others. When my ideal client demographic (YOUR friends and family) see my work being liked, commented on, and shared by people they trust, they are more likely to reach out to me to see what all the fuss is about.

So, give credit to your photographer. Your local small business owner thanks you for your support ❤️
