I worked SO HARD to whittle down the billions (yes, billions) of pending blog posts I had staring at me over the looong winter we just had and *somehow* I’m almost through all the posts I’ve written and I need to churn out some more! How does that happen? Thankfully, I have this gorgeous newborn doll to write about – baby Penelope.

She was utterly gorgeous, you guys. Just the sweetest little face and the most perfect tiny lips. She was docile and sleepy and – well – just a complete dream. She truly did look like a tiny newborn doll. Her parents were sweet, too, and I’m SO EXCITED that they decided to sign up for my Baby’s First Year Membership so that I get to watch this sweet lamb grow!! Squee!!

I swear, every year gets busier and busier. My first year or two in photography, Jan – March was rather dull and uninspired. But the last two winters, during that time when other photographers are updating their website or freshening up their skills on pseudo-projects, I have been running into the ground. Two years ago is when I realized that there is no downtime for newborn photographers – not so for wedding photographers! – and I embraced it fully. This just means that I get to meet more newborn dolls just like Penelope!

This past January and February, I had SIXTEEN sessions. It was a mix of all my favorites: maternity, newborns and cake smashes. Having my studio in my basement has really made things much easier for baby sessions and, while I don’t usually shoot maternity sessions in the winter (I loooooathe the cold weather), I had two requests that I just couldn’t turn down so out I went to frolic in the snow – twice. The first was a perfect session – my first there! – at the Howard County Conservancy. The second – another first for this location! – was at Fells Point in Baltimore. Yes, I hate the cold, but I wouldn’t have missed these sessions for the world.

All this to say, I’m living my dream. Please enjoy this sweet newborn doll, Penelope. She was everything ❤️
