I did these beautiful at home newborn photos just a few short weeks after meeting Jackie and Ryan for the first time. Jackie had arranged maternity photos with another photographer but those had fallen through. She found me and we quickly pulled together an in-home maternity session because their home is stunning, light-filled and just perfect for photos.
Their maternity session was a great test-run for the lifestyle photos that they planned on once their little one arrived. I have done combo lifestyle maternity and newborn photos before and one thing I love doing is recreating shots from one session to the next. Mom and dad snuggling in the nursery anticipating their soon-to-be-born babe and then a follow-up in the same place with at home newborn photos. This was my plan with Jackie and Ryan’s photos as well and I love how they turned out!
And, let me tell you, it’s a good thing we did the maternity photos when we did – why?? Because she delivered baby Christopher the next week! Back I headed to their home, which was still decorated for Christmas – both their sessions straddled Christmas week! I loved being able to incorporate their Christmas decorations both times because the sessions were now linked in multiple ways! Wouldn’t it be fun to do a one year cake smash next Christmas to have the trifecta??
Enjoy seeing baby Christopher and his parents in their gorgeous Kensington, MD, home. That nursery light was just stunning for at home newborn photos and I adored their staircase which was situated right next to a wall of windows. It was so fun seeing their progression from an expectant couple to a brand new family of four (because Lilly definitely counts as a family member!).
