Headshots don’t have to be stuffy and boring. Just ask my friend Christina of C. Tundo Photography. We both have a passion for light and airy photography and one of the best places in the world for light backgrounds (read: white buildings and white columns) is Washington DC. I’m embarrassed to say that, even though I live 45 minutes outside of DC, I’m not down there as much as I should be and I need to make it a goal to change that. On this day, we decided to live the phrase Community over Competition and get some headshots for each other that we could both use to promote our respective businesses.
With that in mind, Christina and I took a day trip down to DC on a Sunday in February and had afternoon of headshots and hilarity (an hour to find parking?? that’s funny! in a crying sort of way). We weren’t sure what the weather was going to be so we spent the first half of our time inside the National Building Museum but then decided we needed to get outside. Thank God we did because it was beautiful! The sun peeked in and out of the clouds and we found a little park outside the Building Museum that had a tree-lined walkway and some white columns in the distance – perfect! We both agreed that the second half of our afternoon was the best and we each got some great headshots and branding shots out of it.
Community over competition is a philosophy that more business owners need to adopt. Even though Christina and I each have businesses that are very similar to one another (in scope and in style), we know that there are more than enough customers out there for us both. Why not make each others lives a little easier and nurture a friendship while we’re at it!! Stay tuned for our next Liz and Christina Day of Fun ❤️ (teaser: cherry blossoms were involved).
