I Hope This Becomes a Habit – DC Lifestyle Newborn

After the fun opportunity I had shooting Millie’s lifestyle newborn session last year in her family’s DC row home, I wonder if a Google search helped this next family find me (if so, thank you Google!). I hope this gets to be a habit!! Mary reached out about Fresh 48 photos and a lifestyle newborn session for her soon-to-be-born son late in February of this year. Given the unpredictability of my homeschooling schedule AND the fact that my childcare travels to Florida for the month of February every year, we were hopeful but not certain that the Fresh 48 would be possible from my end. Oliver was sitting pretty comfy in his nice, safe uterus and didn’t seem inclined to budge…so his due date (February 29th!) came…and went…and Oliver stayed put for almost another week (God bless mothers).

Amazingly, his arrival was timed perfectly so that my husband was home with the kiddos on a weekend and I was able to make the trek down to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, on a gorgeously warm Sunday in early March to meet this sweet family. You can see his Fresh 48 session here.

About two weeks later, I drove down again and met with Mary, Luis and Oliver at their beautiful, newly renovated DC row home to capture some lifestyle newborn images of Oliver. Their home was just perfect for a lifestyle session, with plenty of windows and light-colored decor. Oliver was a champion during his session and even the family dog made an appearance. As I said, above, I hope this gets to be a habit. DC row home sessions are becoming a fave. Everyone, meet Oliver!
