It always surprises me what a small world we live in. When Sara contacted me about doing a DC lifestyle newborn session, she mentioned that she is friends with one of Chris and Jessica’s neighbors and she learned about me through them. Color me surprised when, after doing their (gorgeous!) session and posting about it on Instagram, another client of mine commented on her photo. Apparently those two started their professional careers together 10 years ago in Tennessee. TENNESSEE. And now they’re both in this area and I have done photos for each of them. Does anyone else have these crazy six degrees of separation stories? My mind is blown. (Also, I think I need to get a hobby.)
Anyway. Back to Sara, her husband Kelvin and their adorable newborn girl, Millie. Their session had to be rescheduled to squeeze in before a “massive” snow event (Ha. Massive to DC’ers, not to Vermonters, in case anyone was curious what massive meant. We’re talking maybe 6 inches. But, again, I digress.) which was scheduled to arrive the next day. The day we chose dawned beautifully sunny and we shot photos all over their charming DC row home, even going outside for some porch pictures so that, down the road, Millie can see where her family lived when she was a newborn. I had such a great time with this family – their stunning home was the perfect backdrop for the light and airy style that I love so much. I’m a sucker for DC lifestyle newborn sessions. Also, I’m really glad we got the photos done when we did because snow did happen and I had their amazing gallery to work on inside while my kiddos frolicked outside. #win
Thank you Kelvin and Sara for inviting me in to your home to document beautiful Millie. And, for a serious mind-game, check out Millie’s 2019 fall family session at a park in DC that I had never heard of or been to before their session (despite living most of my life in the DC area)!
And because I had so much fun photographing Millie’s newborn session, the fates smiled down at me and sent me to another DC row home lifestyle newborn session just over a year later…check out Oliver’s blog post here.
