It is always a privilege to be asked to come into a client’s home and document a special time in their life. To be asked back is even more special because, truthfully, the first time was a leap of faith…the second time is trust, belief in and appreciation of what I provided the first time. I loved Porter’s newborn session which was almost exactly a year ago and which really launched me into assurance that the light and airy photography style was my niche. Samantha and Nick’s home has a lot of windows that let in plenty of natural light and their decor is neutral and timeless. When Samantha reached out about documenting Porter’s first birthday I, of course, said yes. I was so excited to go back to their beautiful home, to spend time with such a nice family again and to see just how much Porter had grown in a year. Plus first birthday photos are a riot to capture. I never quite know how the little one is going to respond to a whole cake set in front of him – capturing the expressions and the messy cakey goodness is a ton of fun.
Samantha reminded me of how wide-awake Porter was during much of his newborn session when she joked that not much had changed…he was the Consumate Host during his party. He checked in with his guests, he was in a fabulous mood and, just like last year, he was a busy little bee for his first birthday photos.
