Before I even jump into the main subject of this blog, can we talk about how epic a water maternity session can be??? I have been wanting to do a water maternity session since seeing a friend (of a friend of a friend) post a maternity session she did on a secluded dock. This got me thinking about the beauty of the pregnant body + the serenity and sexiness of water and – BOOM – a water maternity session became a top item on my photography bucket list.
Have I already mentioned how wonderful it is to have my new clients become repeat clients?? Such is the case for Ashley and Marc, who I recently saw for their maternity photos. They were one of my very first sessions after my photography business became official. At the time, they were recently engaged and they hired me to take their Save-the-Date photos for their destination wedding. In fact, looking back, their session was done before I had even started blogging so I had to dig through the archives and pull some of those images up to share.
It’s so fun looking at these shots from 2 years ago. Somehow the edits from this day match my current style – which is amazing since many of my old edits do not look like this!
Ashley follows me on Instagram so imagine my delight when she reached out via direct message to share the news of her pregnancy. Knowing this beautiful couple, I immediately realized that we had to make their maternity photos just as epic as their Save-the-Date photos. Thankfully, they totally trusted me and were absolutely willing to wade in some water near the base of a local waterfall 😍 Ashley is stunning and Marc was such a great and doting father-to-be. I’m super happy with their photos…don’t they look like models????
They’re so glamorous, you’d never know that they’re wearing old sneakers on their feet to protect them from the rocks in the water. Ashley impressed me with her absolutely willingness to get the shot, despite then having to deal with a wet dress and sopping shoes.
